Ascona Clarinet Orchestra Workshop 2024

The 2024 edition of the Ascona Clarinet Orchestra Workshop took place from September 26 to 29, 2024, in the sunny lakeside town of Ascona (Ticino, Switzerland).

The workshop brought together advanced adult clarinetists from across Switzerland to form a full clarinet orchestra — from contrabass to E-flat clarinet. The varied repertoire included orchestral and chamber music, world music, and even big-band-inspired pieces.

Suite from The Threepenny Opera – Kurt Weill
Strange Humors for clarinets and percussion – John Mackey
Birdland – Joe Zawinul

The final concert, held at Teatro del Gatto on Sunday, September 29, 2024, featured all participants supported by percussionist Gianni Masotti, with the kind support of Henri Selmer Paris and the Parrocchia di Ascona.

It was a wonderful weekend of music-making, inspiration, and camaraderie in Ticino’s warm Mediterranean atmosphere.
