‘Sujazzstiva’: Jazz Meets Swiss Legends
‘Sujazzstiva’ is the second concept album by my nonet “CheRoba & il Fiato delle Alpi”, co-produced with SRF2 Kultur: https://www.marcosantilli.com/sujazzstiva/.
This project blends elements of jazz, classical, and folk music, creating a rich and evocative soundscape. The compositions are deeply inspired by sagas and legends from Italian-speaking Switzerland, where ancient stories and modern interpretations come together in music.
The title, ‘Sujazzstiva’, is a playful fusion of the words “suggestive,” “jazz,” and “stiva” (the Grisons variant of “stüa”, meaning parlour). This links the album to its predecessor, ‘La Stüa’, which was commissioned by the International Music Festival Alpentöne.
I am now also performing this program as a duo with the versatile pianist Marina Vasilyeva: https://marinavasilyeva.com/en/. Before each piece, I take time to share the legends behind the music, inviting the audience to dive deeper into the narrative.
