We’re excited to share “Ale.com”, a dynamic and daring composition performed live at the Sujazzstiva concert in Castagnola, Lugano, on September 3, 2023.

This energetic jazz piece, full of sharp edges and unpredictable rhythms, is inspired by the legend “Il Diavolo e la Bugia”. The tale recounts the fate of Marcusse, a greedy nobleman in Bidogno whose deceit led to his undoing. After demanding payment twice from a humble farmer and swearing that the devil should take him if he lied, Marcusse refused to remove his shirt, fearing his own words. But one day, when the shirt finally tore apart, the devil claimed him, dragging him to the depths of hell through a hole in the villa floor that no one could ever close.

The composition Ale.com captures the tension and chaos of Marcusse’s unraveling fate. Its jagged, punchy rhythms echo the cracks in his deception, while its driving momentum reflects the devil’s relentless approach. Yet, within this storm of sound, there is also wit, a sense of rebellious charm, and, perhaps, a sly reminder of fate’s twists and turns.

We are delighted to share a memorable moment from our concert at the LAC in Lugano—an emotional performance of “Ave Maria” by Marco Santilli’s CheRoba & il Fiato delle Alpi.

This original composition, written and arranged by Marco Santilli, was inspired by a poignant legend from Bosco Gurin. After an avalanche buried the chapel dedicated to the Madonna della Neve, a miraculous light guided the villagers in rediscovering their faith and unity.

The audience at the LAC was moved by the performance, as the music’s solemn beauty and haunting melodies filled the hall. Many shared how the music transported them, evoking feelings of nostalgia, resilience, and hope.

Dopo le positive esperienze passate, quest’anno non ho resistito alla tentazione di tenere un corso per orchestra di clarinetti: da giovedì 26 settembre a domenica 29 settembre 2024.

La decisione di organizzare il corso in Ticino è stata per me piuttosto ovvia 😄

Il repertorio spazierà dalla musica orchestrale alle sonorità della musica da camera, dalla world music ad un vero e proprio sound da big band di clarinetti: 

Gli spartiti saranno inviati all’inizio di luglio. 

Nelle ultime prove e al concerto finale saremo accompagnati da un raffinato batterista. Sono lieto di accogliervi numerosi ad Ascona!

Nach den bisherigen positiven Erfahrungen konnte ich auch in diesem Jahr der Versuchung nicht widerstehen, einen Klarinettenorchesterkurs zu geben:
Donnerstag, 26. September bis Sonntag 29. September 2024.

Die Entscheidung, den Kurs im Tessin durchzuführen, lag für mich auf der Hand. Das Klima im September sollte dort noch mild sein (zumindest habe ich es so bestellt 😄).

Das Repertoire wird von Orchestermusik bis zu kammermusikalischen Klängen, von Weltmusik bis zu einem satten Klarinetten-Bigband-Sound reichen: 

Die Noten werden Anfangs Juli verschickt. 

Bei den Endproben und dem Abschlusskonzert werden wir von einem raffinierten Schlagzeuger begleitet. Es würde mich freuen, Euch in der Sonnenstube zahlreich zu begrüssen!

Si annuncia squisitamente originale la decima edizione de L’Estro armonico, rassegna di primavera dell’associazione 753 ArteBellezza presso la chiesa di San Biagio a Bellinzona. L’associazione con sede a Bellinzona mi ha incaricato di allestire il programma dell’edizione 2024, con le mie composizioni a fare da filo conduttore.

Domenica 25 febbraio alle 17:00 mi esibirò in solitaria con “Clarinetto d’improvviso… e l’aria creò il suono”, un programma di proprie composizioni ed improvvisazioni ai clarinetti, prendendo spunto da stili differenti: dal jazz alla musica popolare, dal barocco al gregoriano, dalla world music al pop; il tutto per una miscela di timbri e gusti personali. Un momento per ascoltare, contemplare, meditare, soffermarsi, rimanere…

Domenica 3 marzo alle 17 Grazia Galletta e Michele Masserano, entrambi al pianoforte, eseguiranno celebri pagine di W.A. Mozart, Johannes Brahms e Antonin Dvorak. Questo concerto avrà luogo a Spazio Aperto, Via Gerretta 9A, Bellinzona. 

Domenica 17 marzo alle 17:00 ospiteremo due musicisti virtuosi di casa nostra: Gábor Barta al violino (Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne) e Mattia Zappa al violoncello (Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich), entrambi di formazione classica e nel contempo abili improvvisatori. In programma pagine di J.S. Bach, Reinhold Glière e Gábor Barta. I musicisti eseguiranno inoltre “Equinozio d’autunno”, Suite commissionatami dieci anni fa proprio da Mattia Zappa, allora direttore artistico dei “Concerti in San Martino”. Per l’occasione, ho arrangiato le parti di clarinetto per il violino.

Domenica 21 aprile alle  17:00 è la volta di “Orgelwind”, con il sottoscritto e Ivan Tibolla all’organo. Il vento del mantice che si mescola al fiato dei clarinetti per una miscela e un impasto unico. Influenzata da stili diversi, questa formazione ha un linguaggio con un tocco jazzistico, che tuttavia rivela la formazione classica dei due interpreti. Dopo “Orgelwind” del 2015, è del 2021 la pubblicazione di “CheRoba in due”, album maturato durante la pandemia, sotto la spinta di una riflessione sul valore della presenza e dell’assenza. Il lavoro è stato tra l’altro presentato a “MusicaViva” su Rete Due. Oltre a brani dei musicisti, ascolteremo pagine di Claudio Monteverdi, G.B. Mantegazzi, A.R. Luciani e George Gershwin.

Recently, Marco delved into Swiss Italian fairy tales, incorporating them into his compositions for the nonet ensemble. He also finds inspiration in the rich narratives of Val Leventina, resulting in the creation of the concept album “Sujazzstiva”.

Addressing the notion of fame, Marco expresses no fear, as his niche projects prioritize artistic satisfaction over commercial success. He emphasizes the importance of staying true to his artistic vision and resisting mainstream influences.

Looking ahead, Marco shares plans for upcoming concerts, albums, and projects, including solo performances, new collaborations and the production of new albums. He concludes by expressing the need for continual self-improvement and learning in the ever-evolving world of music.
