The picture – a table, two empty chairs… evocation of an absence, of a void calling out to be filled. Isn’t music also telling us about that void, about the dignity with which left-over objects can still talk to us? Objets inanimés… Music leads us to the truth, it can reach deep inside of us where mere information cannot, it can redeem us from the absence and the emptiness.
This curse of a pandemic, which emptied the streets and piazze of Venice, also became – thanks to the music – a trigger to make us ponder what presence and absence are worth. Here are two musicians, using written and improvised music to try to reach an inner landscape, to recover some meaning… so that emptiness can be more than just an absence of content.
